About me

How it all started

Growing up in 1980s communist Poland, I was immersed in a homogeneous and monocultural society. My parents and grandparents have lived in the same countryside for their whole lives, a place where familiarity was the name of the game. However, even in that setting, I somehow nurtured a deep fascination for languages and cultures beyond my own.

It was during my high school years that I had my first transformative experience – a school exchange programme with Swiss students. This marked my very first trip abroad and my initial encounter with foreigners. The experience was a whirlwind of culture shock, curiosity, and delight. Since those were the days before the internet, we relied on traditional mail to maintain our connections.

Motivated by this eye-opening adventure, I decided to pursue studies in international relations and joined the ASSET club for international students. This led me to attend first international student conference, in Denmark, which I loved! Shortly thereafter, I seized the chance to participate in the World & Travel programme in the United States, recognizing that there was no turning back for me.

Fast forward two decades, and I look back with immense gratitude for the countless intercultural encounters I have had the privilege to experience. Having lived on three continents—Europe, America, and Asia—and working in organisations with diverse corporate cultures, I have supported leaders and managed teams hailing from a range of backgrounds, including American, British, Canadian, Australian, Danish, Hong Kongese, Singaporean, and Mainland Chinese. The kaleidoscope of diversity that has coloured my journey has enriched my life beyond measure, and my 16 years in an ever-growing and evolving China have proven to be one unforgettable lesson.

As someone in an interracial marriage, raising two trilingual sons in Beijing and now residing in Poland, I have a myriad of blended- family stories to share. It is my passion to advocate for inclusion, cultural diversity, tolerance, and acceptance, particularly among children and young adults.

With certifications as a business trainer, a Master’s degree in International Relations, and an Executive MBA in Leadership and Coaching, I am equipped to guide others through the intricacies of intercultural dialogue.

My passions

MY PASSIONS fuel my ACTIONs

Education and personal Development

I deeply believe in the value of education. As a child, I dreamed of becoming a teacher. I always had a knack for explaining complex tasks in a way that my classmates could understand. Although I didn’t pursue a career in teaching, I have been involved in the field in a different capacity, fulfilling administrative roles in non-public international schools and collaborating with teachers, students, and parents. This passion still accompanies me, as working among young, motivated, and curious individuals inspires me to continue my own personal growth.

I love travelling. Whether it is exploring a new shortcut to the local vegetable market on my son’s scooter or taking long flights to distant corners of the world, I am fascinated by people and their stories. The richness of Asian cultures captivates me, as I had the opportunity to explore these regions quite extensively during my 16-year stay in China. Japan, Thailand, Malaysia, Bali, Korea, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, the Philippines, Indonesia, Singapore – these are the places where I feel at home, where I enjoy observing different ways of life, taking photographs, and trying local delicacies. Even though I thought at first that I knew China inside out, the longer I lived there, the more it surprised me, and I became humbled by the things I still don’t know and understand.

Parenting

Can one approach parenthood with passion? I believe so, although sometimes it is the children themselves who ignite our passion (or frustration). Accompanying my sons on their journey from infancy to adolescence has been truly fascinating. I  have learnt a great deal from their sensitivity and unique perspectives. My trilingual multicultural children born in Beijing, sometimes would like to simply blend in with the neighborhood boys and just enjoy playing football together, but their appearance, family background, and life experiences make it challenging. Learning to set boundaries and allowing them to make their own mistakes while supporting them in discovering their own passions and talents is not always an easy path, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything else!
